Keep your Anointing Oil to fuel your Lamp Testimony!

MattithYâ´huw Chapter 25

Keep your Anointing Oil to fuel your Lamp Testimony!

1. Then the Reign of Yâ-hwéh will be made to resemble ten virgins, who having taken their oil-lamps went forth to meet the Bridegroom.

2. Now five of them were cautious and five heedless.

3. They who heedless, when they had taken their oil-lamps, did not take with themselves oil;

4. But the prudent took oil in their vessels with their oil-lamps.

5. But while the Bridegroom took time, they all became drowsy and slept.(187)

6. But in the middle of the night, there was a cry:

‘Look! The Bridegroom comes! Go forth to meet Him!’

7. Then all those virgins arose, and prepared their oil-lamps.

8. And the heedless said to the cautious:

‘Give us some of your oil, because our oil-lamps are extinguished!’

9. But the cautious responded, saying:

‘We may not give you some, lest it may not suffice for us and you, go rather to those who sell it, and buy some for yourselves.’

10. But as they went away to buy , the Bridegroom came, and those ready went in with Him into the wedding-feast(188), and the door was shut.

11. But afterwards the other virgins came also, saying:

“My Sovereign, my Sovereign (’Athonâ´y, ’Athonâ´y), open to us!”

12. But He responding said:

“’Âmë´n (Certainly) I say to you, I do not recognize you.”

13. Therefore keep watch, because ye do not discern the day and the hour (189) in which the Son of ’Âthâ´m comes.

(187)The night represents this 2000 year period when the wisdom has been dimmed and His Word has been forgotten. The Lamps are supposed to be kept lit throughout the night in front of the Testimony with the clear oil of pressed olives as a lasting ordinance (Exodus 27: 20-21). Having pure oil spiritually represents having the anointing. Thus maintaining our anointing fuels our Lamp to illuminate our Testimony to be prepared and dressed in the wedding garment for His coming.

(188)Or “marriage”, which means the Bridegroom married these virgins. They symbolize the Remnant.

(189)Deducing from scripture, He should be coming on the Day of Atonement 7/10 of the true calendar, in the year 5997 from creation, 3 ½ years before 6001 (see History of Man).

Footnote 187 definitely post a clear understanding of having pure oil, the anointing the finest of oils was produced from the green grapes that just were in the verge of changing to there darker color this was the best time to get the oil. The lowest form of the olive oil was produces in a limestone vat normally with a upper and lower section The top section was normally trodden on.

Neh 13:15 In those days I saw in Yehuḏah those treading wine presses on the Sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys with wine, grapes, and figs, and all kinds of burdens, which they brought into Yerushalayim on the Sabbath day. So I warned them on the day they sold food.

popular concordance say's

Virgins, as representing separation from the world, if any special significance is to be sought. To carry out the apt figure of a wedding, this class of persons must be introduced.

I do not always agree with titles that concordance uses but the information is a great reference at times.

Matthew henry's concordance say's

Matthew 25:1-13 The circumstances of the parable of the ten virgins were taken from the marriage customs among the Jews, and explain the great day of Christ's coming. See the nature of Christianity. As Christians we profess to attend upon Christ, to honour him, also to be waiting for his coming. Sincere Christians are the wise virgins, and hypocrites the foolish ones. Those are the truly wise or foolish that are so in the affairs of their souls. Many have a lamp of profession in their hands, but have not, in their hearts, sound knowledge and settled resolution, which are needed to carry them through the services and trials of the present state. Their hearts are not stored with holy dispositions, by the new-creating Spirit of God. Our light must shine before men in good works; but this is not likely to be long done, unless there is a fixed, active principle in the heart, of faith in Christ, and love to God and our brethren. They all slumbered and slept. The delay represents the space between the real or apparent conversion of these professors, and the coming of Christ, to take them away by death, or to judge the world. But though Christ tarry past our time, he will not tarry past the due time. The wise virgins kept their lamps burning, but they did not keep themselves awake. Too many real Christians grow remiss, and one degree of carelessness makes way for another. Those that allow themselves to slumber, will scarcely keep from sleeping; therefore dread the beginning of spiritual decays. A startling summons was given. Go ye forth to meet Him, is a call to those prepared. The notice of Christ's approach, and the call to meet him, will awaken. Even those best prepared for death have work to do to get actually ready, 2Pe_3:14. It will be a day of search and inquiry; and it concerns us to think how we shall then be found. Some wanted oil to supply their lamps when going out. Those that take up short of true grace, will certainly find the want of it one time or other. An outward profession may light a man along this world, but the damps of the valley of the shadow of death will put out such a light. Those who care not to live the life, yet would die the death of the righteous. But those that would be saved, must have grace of their own; and those that have most grace, have none to spare. The best need more from Christ. And while the poor alarmed soul addresses itself, upon a sick-bed, to repentance and prayer, in awful confusion, death comes, judgment comes, the work is undone, and the poor sinner is undone for ever. This comes of having oil to buy when we should burn it, grace to get when we should use it. Those, and those only, shall go to heaven hereafter, that are made ready for heaven here. The suddenness of death and of Christ's coming to us then, will not hinder our happiness, if we have been prepared. The door was shut. Many will seek admission into heaven when it is too late. The vain confidence of hypocrites will carry them far in expectations of happiness. The unexpected summons of death may alarm the Christian; but, proceeding without delay to trim his lamp, his graces often shine more bright; while the mere professor's conduct shows that his lamp is going out. Watch therefore, attend to the business of your souls. Be in the fear of the Lord all the day long.

Scofield has this to say!

Matthew 25:1 shall This part of the Olivet discourse goes beyond the "sign" questions of the disciples (Mat_24:3) and presents our Lord's return in three aspects: (1) As testing profession, (Mat_25:1-13). (2) as testing service, (Mat_25:14-30); (3) as testing the Gentile nations, (Mat_25:31-46). virgins The kingdom of heaven here is the sphere of profession, as in Matthew 13. All alike have lamps, but two facts fix the real status of the foolish virgins: They "took no oil," and the Lord said, "I know you not." Oil is the symbol of the Holy Spirit, and "If any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his" (Rom_8:9).

Where Barnes has this to say!

Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven - See the notes at Mat_3:2. The phrase here refers to his coming in the day of judgment. Shall be likened - Or shall resemble. The meaning is, “When the Son of man returns to judgment, it will be as it was in the case of ten virgins in a marriage ceremony.” The coming of Christ to receive his people to himself is often represented under the similitude of a marriage, the church being represented as his spouse or bride. The marriage relation is the most tender, firm, and endearing of any known on earth, and on this account it suitably represents the union of believers to Christ. See Mat_9:15; Joh_3:29; Rev_19:7; Rev_21:9; Eph_5:25-32. Ten virgins - These virgins, doubtless, represent the church - a name given to it because it is pure and holy. See 2Co_11:2; Lam_1:15; Lam_2:13. Which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom - The “lamps” used on such occasions were rather “torches” or “flambeaux.” They were made by winding rags around pieces of iron or earthenware, sometimes hollowed so as to contain oil, and fastened to handles of wood. These torches were dipped in oil, and gave a large light. Marriage “ceremonies” in the East were conducted with great pomp and solemnity. The ceremony of marriage was performed commonly in the open air, on the banks of a stream. Both the bridegroom and bride were attended by friends. They were escorted in a palanquin. carried by four or more persons. After the ceremony of marriage succeeded a feast of seven days if the bride was a virgin, or three days if she was a widow. This feast was celebrated in her father’s house. At the end of that time the bridegroom conducted the bride with great pomp and splendor to his own home. This was done in the evening, or at night, Jer_7:34; Jer_25:10; Jer_33:11. Many friends and relations attended them; and besides those who went with them from the house of the bride, there was another company that came out from the house of the bridegroom to meet them and welcome them. These were probably female friends and relatives of the bridegroom, who went out to welcome him and his new companion to their home. These are the virgins mentioned in this parable. Not knowing precisely the time when the procession would come, they probably went out early, and waited until they should see indications of its approach. In the celebration of marriage in the East at the present day, many of the special customs of ancient times are observed. “At a Hindu marriage,” says a modern missionary, “the procession of which I saw some years ago, the bridegroom came from a distance, and the bride lived at Serampore, to which place the bridegroom was to come by water. After waiting two or three hours, at length, near midnight, it was announced, in the very words of Scripture, ‘Behold the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.’ All the persons employed now lighted their lamps, and ran with them in their hands to fill up their stations in the procession. Some of them had lost their lights and were unprepared, but it was then too late to seek them, and the cavalcade moved forward to the house of the bride, at which place the company entered a large and splendidly illuminated area before the house, covered with an awning, where a great multitude of friends, dressed in their best apparel, were seated upon mats. The bridegroom was carried in the arms of a friend, and placed in a superb seat in the midst of the company, where he sat a short time, and then went into the house, the door of which was immediately shut and guarded by sepoys. I and others expostulated with the doorkeepers, but in vain. Never was I so struck with our Lord’s beautiful parable as at this moment - ‘And the door was shut.’” The journal of one of the American missionaries in Greece contains an account of an Armenian wedding which she attended; and, after describing the dresses and previous ceremonies, she says that at 12 o’clock at night precisely the cry was made by some of the attendants, “Behold, the bridegroom cometh;” and immediately five or six men set off to meet him. Bridegroom - A newly-married man. Barnes has bridgroom as being literal where bridgroom is spiritual for Yahuwshua/Yahushua

Henry has this to say!

Matthew 25:1 Then (1) shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and (a) went forth to meet the bridegroom. (1) We must desire strength from Yahweh's hand which may serve us as a torch while we walk through this darkness, to bring us to our desired end: otherwise, if we become slothful and negligent because we are weary of our pains and travail, we shall be kept from entering the doors. (a) The pomp of weddings was usually preferred to be done at night, and that by young unmarried women. Is your oil pure ? ARe you covered with the annointing ? if you were to be pressed would you oil be pure? Yahweh bless
