Importance of speaking with languages de-emphasized
To the Qorinthíym 14 all
1. Pursue affectionate love! And be zealous of the spiritual manifestations, but more so that ye may predicate.
2. For he who speaks with a language, doesn’t speak for sons of ’Âthâ´m, instead, for Yâ-hwéh, for no one understands45, so spiritually he speaks secrets.
3. But he who predicates, speaks for building up sons of ’Âthâ´m with exhortation and consolation.
4. He who speaks with a language builds up only his self46, but he who predicates, builds up the convocation.
5. Though I wish all of you to speak with languages, yet I would rather that ye predicate! For greater47 is he who predicates than he who speaks with languages, aside from unless he might interpret, in order that the convocation might receive edification.

45 the meaning of what is said, not that what is said is gibberish.
46 This is because tongues is a sign for unbelievers, and it being spiritual secrets he says for Yâ-hwéh, the fleshly unbeliever won’t understand even though it is in his language!
47 In Deeds of the Delegates chapter 2, about 120 men spoke in languages on the day of the Feast of Weeks, and the fleshly did not understand, but thought they were drunk.
One man stood up to interpret what was said, Këph, and 3,000 were added!
“The Promise of the Father” [1: 4] fulfills with a sign
Deeds of the Delegates chapter 2,
1. ¶ And during the accomplishing of the 50th day from Firstfruits, they were all at the same place unanimously,
2. And unexpectedly a sound came from the skies just like a rushing of a violent wind, and filled the entire dwelling where they were sitting.
3. And there appeared to them divided tongues, as if of fire, and sat upon each one of them.
4. And they were all filled of the spirit of the Pure One, and began to speak with other languages, just as the spirit gave to them to pronounce clearly.
5. And there were Yâhuwthím dwelling in Yruwshâláim, reverent men from every nation that are under the heavens.
6. But when the sound of this was generated, all the multitude gathered and were bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own dialect!
7. And all were astounded and marveled, saying to one another: “Look! Aren’t all those who are speaking Gliylíym?
8. Yet how do we hear each speak in our own dialect in which we were born?”
9. Said the Parçíym and Mâtháy and `Ëylâmíym, and those who inhabit ’Arâ´m Naharáyim (“of the two rivers8”), and Yâhuwthím and those from Kappadokía, Póntus and ’Asía,
10. Both Phrugías and Pamphulía, Mitsráyim and the parts of Libúe (Libya) which is near Kuréne and those who visited from Róma: both Yâhuwthím and foreign converts to Yâ-hwéh,
11. And those from Kréte and `Arviy’íym (Arabians) all said: “We hear them speaking in our own languages the great things of ‘
Yâ-hwéh9’!”
12. And all were astounded, yet were thoroughly perplexed, saying one to another: “What would that thing mean?”
13. But others said, jeering:“They are full of new wine and become drunk10!” [1 Qorinthíym 14: 2]
Footnote
9 Though these were speaking in languages from everywhere, note that all spoke Yâ-hwéh’s name the same, not translated, nor rendered differently. Note in the next verses these foreigners did not understand as they were nonbelievers, and these things are spiritually discerned, and Këph stood up to interpret.
10 The Greek says “full of new wine” where the “full” (Strong’s #3325) implies intoxication. Either way, it is clear here that new wine was fermented and alcoholic (e.g. Beaujolais), though many Christians argue otherwise.
Këph translates and interprets the spiritual sayings in languages and ~3,000 turn to
Yâ-hwéh
14. But Shim`ówn Këph, standing up with the eleven delegates, raised his voice and spoke out to them: “Men, Yâhuwthím, and all of the ones who inhabit Yruwshâláim: let this thing become well-known to you, and give ear to my words:
15. For it is not as ye suppose, ‘these are drunken’, for it is but the third hour of the day
[9 AM],
16. Instead, this thing is that which has been spoken through the predicator Yâhuw’Ë´l, [Yâhuw’Ë´l 2: 28-32]
17. And it shall be during the last days, Yâ-hwéh said: “I will pour out My spirit upon all of flesh, and your sons and your daughters will predicate, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams,11
18. And on both the men bondservants and the women bondservants in those days I will pour out My spirit and they shall predicate –
19. But I will show signs in the heavens and mighty deeds on the earth, blood and fire and mushroom-clouds12 of smoke;
20. The luminary orb, it shall be turned to darkness, and the moon into blood before the great and the awesome Day of Yâ-hwéh13 is to come!
21. And it shall happen, everyone who shall have called on the name of Yâ-hwéh, he shall be delivered! [Because the escaped remnant shall be on the Mountain of Tsiyyówn and in Yruwshâláim” just as Yâ-hwéh has said, “and they which have had the glad tidings preached to them14, whom Yâ-hwéh is calling.]”
22. Sons of Yisrâ’Ë´l, understand these words: Yâhuwshúa` the Nëtsríy is the Man exhibited by the Power (’Ël) unto you by works of Force and wonders and signs, which the Power wrought within your midst by His hand, just as you yourselves also recognize.
23. This One was given up for this by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of Yâ-hwéh, when ye seized Him through the hands of the lawless, and ye did put Him to death, having hanged Him on a gallows-cross.
24. But the Power raised Him up, having loosed Him from the labor pains of Sh’ówl, since it was not possible for Him to be retained in Sh’ówl.
25. For Dâwíth says for Him [Songs 16: 2]: “I have set Yâ-hwéh always before Me because at My right hand15, I will not be shaken:
26. Therefore My heart is glad and My Worth rejoices – My flesh will also rest securely:
27. Because You will not abandon My Self to Sh’ówl, You will not concede Your Loyal One to see decay:
28. You will make the Way of Life known to Me, the completion of happiness, Your Face, and pleasures eternally at Your right hand:” [Songs 16: 8-11]
29. Men, our brothers, it is lawful to speak with outspokenness to you about the chief father Dâwíth, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day.
30. These things being so, he came to be a foreteller, and understanding that Yâ-hwéh swore to him with an oath: “One from the fruit of your loins [the Anointed One (Songs 132: 10)], I shall set upon your throne,” [Songs 132: 11]
31. And foreseeing, he did speak about the resurrection of the Anointed: that His Self was not left down in Sh’ówl, neither did His flesh see decay [v. 27];
32. This One is Yâhuwshúa`, Who the Power (’Ël) raised up, of which we are witnesses.
33. Also this One is Who has been elevated to the right hand of the Power, [v. 28] and received the promise of the spirit of the Pure One from the Father, so He has poured this gift out, which ye now see and hear.
34. For Dâwíth is not ascended into the heavens16, but himself says:
“A declaration of Yâ-hwéh for my Foundation (’Athníy): ‘Sit at My right hand,
35. until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet!’” [Songs 110: 1]
36. Therefore, let all the house of Yisrâ’Ë´l assuredly acknowledge, that the Power (’Ël) has made Him both Yâ-hwéh17 [Yshá`Yâhuw 49: 4, ZkharYâ´hu 3: 5-6, Yâhuwchânâ´n’s Glad Tidings 13: 31] and the Anointed One, this one Yâhuwshúa`, Whom ye have hanged.”
37. And when they understood18, their hearts were vehemently agitated, and said to Shim`ówn Këph and the rest of the delegates:“What should we do, our brothers?”
38. And Shim`ówn Këph said to them: “Each of you repent19, and become immersed within the name of Yâ-hwéh Yâhushúa`20 for release from sins, and ye will receive the gift of the spirit of the Pure One.
39. For the promise is for you and your children, and for all those at a distant time, whoever may call to Yâ-hwéh our mighty Ones.”
40. And with many other words he earnestly testified to them and implored them, saying: “Be delivered from this perverse stock!”
41. Then those who indeed had gladly accepted his Word and trusted were immersed. And that day were added about three thousand lives (néphesh).
42. And they were steadfastly attentive to the instructions of the delegates and were in fellowship, both with the breaking of the bread and in prayers.
43. And reverence came on every life (néphesh), and many omens and signs took place by the hand of the delegates in Yruwshâláim.
44. And all the ones who believed were united and all things they had was shared by all,
45. And they sold their possessions and property, and divided them to each one, according to whether anyone had a need.
46. And every day they were steadfastly attentive unanimously within the temple, and breaking bread in their houses, they partook of nourishment with exultation, and in simplicity of heart,
47. They were praising Yâ-hwéh, and finding favor before all of the people, and Yâ-hwéh added those who were being delivered daily to the convocation.
Footnotes
11 The Masoretic rendering of this text is mixed up.
12 Strong’s #8490 which is derived from the word for palm-tree, describing the shape of the cloud.
13 On the dark Day of Yâhuwshúa`’s sudden return to His temple, the day cycle (YirmYâ´huw 31: 35-36) is broken and thus the descendants of Yisrâ’Ë´l will cease from being a heathen mass before Him forever. But verse 37 is not broken, so not ALL their Seed will be rejected. This event is the 6th seal.
14 LXX makes clear this is Strong’s # 1319, not #8300, a mistake of thinking ב to be a preposition instead of part of the term.
15 Translators change this to “because He is at My right hand”, but think, as He is at the right hand side of the Father, His Father would be at His left hand! The Truth is, since Yâhuwshúa` is Yâ-hwéh, the Father’s right hand is also His.
16 Besides the point made by Këph, this knocks a very big hole in the false doctrine of believers going to heaven, even for those who claim it to happen with the Deliverer’s ascension.
17 As per the Peshitta Aramaic translation, and the entire point of this speech.
18 They then understood that Yâhuwshúa` is
Yâ-hwéh Who sent His spirit they saw manifesting, and that Yâhuwshúa` is Who will come in the Day of Yâ-hwéh, and that the name of Yâ-hwéh they had to call on to survive the Day of Yâ-hwéh is as Këph then says in the next verse: Yâ-hwéh Yâhuwshúa`!
19 The Greek term, Strong’s #3340 contains only a partial meaning to this term, as also the `Ivríyth term, Strong’s #05162 in the Niphal form. Post-advent scripture codices help define this word further. It means “To MANIFEST with manifold EXPRESSION of GRIEF the CHANGE of mind and perception to REGRET”. To include all of this meaning in one term best fits redefining here “repent”. The action to return is what follows separate from this, which is the WORK that backs up the new BELIEF.
20 Per the predictions in scripture, Yâ-hwéh has preserved this Truth intact. In the Aramaic, it is evident that this is the proper name to be immersed in, being as commanded in MattithYâ´huw, the name of the Father also of the Son. In other places the scribes have not left these names intact, substituting titles due to their unbelief.
Uninspired speaking and unintelligible babbling is worthless
1 To the Qorinthíym 14 continued
6. Yet now, brothers, if I come towards you speaking with languages, what shall I benefit you, unless I shall speak to you either by disclosure, or in knowledge, or in predication, or in instruction?
7. Even when lifeless things give a sound, whether a flute or a harp, if they do not give a distinction to the sounds, how shall what is being piped on the flute or being strummed on the harp be recognized?
8. For even if a trumpet gives an indistinct sound, who shall prepare himself for battle?
9. Thus also ye: unless by means of the tongue ye give an intelligible expression, how shall what is being spoken be known? For ye will be speaking to the air!
10. Though perhaps there are so many speech patterns of the nations in the world, yet none of them are without meaning.
11. Therefore, if I [Páulus] do not know the significance48 of the saying, even I shall be to the one that speaks a barbarian49, but he who speaks would be a barbarian for me!
12. Thus ye also, since ye are zealous of spiritual manifestations, seek them in order that ye may abound towards the building up of the convocation!
13. Which is why, he who speaks with a language, let him pray in order that He might interpret;
14. For if I pray with a language, my spirit does pray – yet my understanding is unfruitful.
15. Then what is fruitful? I will pray with the spirit, but I will also pray with the understanding. I will praise with the spirit, but I will also praise with the understanding.
16. On top of that, if you might bless with the spirit, he who occupies the place of the ignorant – how shall he say the ’Âmë´n (“certainly!”) at your thanksgiving, since he does not understand what you say?
17. For you indeed may give thanks beautifully, nevertheless the other one is not edified.
18. I give thanks to Yâ-hwéh for all of you, even more, speaking with languages,
19. Nevertheless, in convocation, I wish more to speak five words through my understanding in order that I may also instruct others, than to speak ten thousand words in a language!
20. My brothers, do not become immature with your emotions; instead to malice be infants, and become ye full grown with your emotions.
21. In the Law it has been written: “…Then with ones of foreign speech and by means of other languages He will speak the Word to this people… …but they are not willing to listen… (Says Yâ-hwéh)” [Yshá`Yâhuw 28: 11-12]
22. Consequently those languages exist for a sign: not for those persuaded, instead for the unpersuaded; but predicating is a sign, not for the unpersuaded, rather for those persuaded.

48 Also translatable as “discern the Force”
49 An uncivilized foreigner. Páulus says if HE were to NOT know the significance of a deceived charismatic’s misinspired ecstatic high-sounding babbling drivel, these would judge HIM as being an unbelieving uncivilized alien.
Yshá`Yâhuw 28: 11-12
11. Then with ones of foreign speech and by means of other languages He will speak the Word to this people,
12. of which He has said to them, ‘This is the rest-haven, rest! It is for the weary’ and ‘This is the place of repose’, but they are not willing to listen. [1 Qorinthíym 14: 21]

Hypothetical comparison: speaking with languages vs. predicating
23. Therefore, if the whole convocation might come together onto one place, and all should speak with languages, and ignorant ones or unpersuaded ones should enter, won’t they say that ye are raving mad?
24. But if all predicate, and some unpersuaded one or ignorant one might enter, he is scrutinized by all of you, and he is refuted by all of you,
25. and thus, the concealments of his heart become rendered apparent, and thus, falling upon his face, he will do reverence to Yâ-hwéh, declaring that Yâ-hwéh is really within you!
Criteria and rules of the properly gifted convocation
26. Therefore how would it be, my brothers, when ye may come together when Yâ-hwéh is within you? Each one of you who has a song (“Psalm”), has a teaching, has a language, has a disclosure, or has an interpretation, all things would be done towards edification!
27. But if anyone might speak with a language, it would be two or at the most three, and consecutively, with one interpreting.
28. But if there might not be an interpreter, let him who speaks with a language be silent in convocation, and speaking to his self and to Yâ-hwéh.
29. And predicators, let two or three speak, and let the others cross-examine.
30. But if another sitting by might have a disclosure, let the first be silent.
31. For ye can all predicate one by one in order that all may learn, and that all may be exhorted.
32. And the spirits of predicating are subject to predicators50.
33. For He is not the mighty Ones of disorder, instead, of peace, as among all the convocations of the pure ones.
34. Let your women keep silent within the convocations – for it is not allowed to them to speak, rather to be in subjection, just as also the Law says. [1 Moshéh 3: 16]
35. But if they wish to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is a shameful thing for women to speak in convocation.51
36. Or did the Word of Yâ-hwéh leave from you52? Or did He arrive for you exclusively53? [Yâhuw’Ë´l 2: 28]
37. If anyone seems to be a predicator or spiritual, let him acknowledge that which I write to you, because they are commands of Yâ-hwéh.
38. But if any might be ignorant, let him be ignorant.54
39. Consequently, my brothers, be zealous to predicate, yet do not forbid to speak with languages.
40. Let all things be done in a well-conformed manner and according to the arrangement.
Footnotes
50 A spirit from the Adversary, (a lord), would appear to possess the speaker and cause him to interrupt convocations, as these subject THEIR predicator.
51 A convocation is a physical gathering on a day ordered by Yâ-hwéh for convocation to listen to Yâ-hwéh. A wife’s head is her husband, who should be the spokesman for their union if they speak. This verse addresses the question of whether a wife may speak to ask a question in convocation. The reason this would be shameful is because her doing so would mean her husband is being derelict in his duty to explain it to her, or that she is rebelling against her husband’s authority, both shameful to a couple in Yâ-hwéh.
52 Páulus is saying having women speak (or speak with languages) in convocation is tantamount to Yâ-hwéh’s Word (Yâhuwshúa`) having left them. This evidence is increasingly common in the shamelessness of these latter days in spite of the clearness of this passage even in establishment translations.
53 Páulus is saying: “Are their women speaking because Yâ-hwéh Yâhuwshúa` arrived to them exclusively and poured His spirit on all of them to do this?”
54 Páulus is saying in verses 37-38 that these rules should be expected from those who have the Truth and not from those who do not acknowledge His name. It would be useless that they know how it is done when they don’t even have the name which would permit them to have the correct spirit.
1 Moshéh 3: 16
16. And for Yisrâ’Ë´l, the one not belonging to the wife (’ishshâ´h) [~Christians], He said concerning it, “Abundantly I shall increase the ones not afflictions the ones are working Yisrâ’Ë´l, and of the one not groaning the ones are working among the ones of Yisrâ’Ë´l. [~contrived crises, “labor pains”] With (for) the affliction, you shall bring forth children at that time of Yisrâ’Ë´l, even all Yisrâ’Ë´l with regard, not of the existent man (’iysh) the ones are working [~Yehuwthâ´h]. The ones working Yisrâ’Ë´l or him, the son [~of Perdition], are not turning back [~repenting], yet he shall have sovereignty (power of decision)50 over the ones working.”51 [1 Moshéh 4: 7, 4 Moshéh 30: 2-16, Proverbs 3: 6, 1 Qorinthíym 11: 3-11]
Yâhuw’Ë´l 2: 28-29
28. And it shall happen after this, I shall pour out My spirit on all flesh and they, your sons and your daughters, shall predicate, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams,
29. And on both the male servants and on the female servants in those days shall I pour out My spirit and they shall predicate8. [foreshadowed Deeds 2: 1-16]
