The birth of the son of the free woman,
Yitschâ´q
1. Then Yâ-hwéh paid attention to Sârâ´h just as He said, and Yâ-hwéh worked for Sârâ´h just as He dictated,
2. and she conceived and Sârâ´h bore for ’Avrâhâ´m a son for his old age, for the appointed time which the mighty Ones had dictated of him,
3. and ’Avrâhâ´m called the name of his son being born of him, who Sârâ´h had born for him “Yitschâ´q” (he will laugh),
4. and ’Avrâhâ´m circumcised Yitschâ´q his son at 8 days of age just as the mighty Ones had commanded him,
5. and ’Avrâhâ´m was 100 years old when Yitschâ´q his son was being born for him, [Yâshâ´r 21: 1-3] 6. and Sârâ´h said, “Laughter (tschóq) has Yâ-hwéh107 made for me; everyone hearing it, he will rejoice together with me!”

7. and she said, “Who else could have spoken glad tidings108 to ’Avrâhâ´m that Sârâ´h shall have nursed children because I would have given birth to a son for his old age?”

8. And the lad grew and he was weaned and ’Avrâhâ´m made a great feast on the day Yitschâ´q was to be weaned. [Yâshâ´r 21: 4-8]
Yishmâ`Ë´’l loses the firstborn position
9. And Sârâ´h observed the son of Hâğâ´r the Mitsríyth [age 20], which she had borne for ’Avrâhâ´m, bullying [him (age 5) with a loaded weapon] for sport, [Yâshâ´r 21: 12-15]
10. so she said to ’Avrâhâ´m, “Drive out that bondwoman and her son because the son of that bondwoman shall not inherit with my son, with Yitschâ´q!” [Galátas 4: 30]
11. And the matter seemed very harsh in the eyes of ’Avrâhâ´m concerning the cause of his son,
12. but the mighty Ones said to ’Avrâhâ´m, “Let it not be harsh in your eyes concerning the youth or concerning your bondwoman; all what Sârâ´h did say to you, obey her voice, because within Yitschâ´q shall a Seed be called for you, [Romans 9: 7, `Ivríym 11: 18]
13. though also I will make the son of your bondwoman to a heathen mass because he is your seed.”
14. So ’Avrâhâ´m arose early in the morning and he took bread and a water skin and he gave it to Hâğâ´r putting it upon her shoulder, and the lad, and he dispatched her, and she went and she wandered around in the uninhabited land of B’ë´r Shâ´va`,
15. then the waters from the skin were finished and she cast off the lad beneath one of the bushes,
16. and she came and she stayed by herself nearby, to be distant like a bowshot, because she said, “I cannot look at the death of the lad”, so she stayed nearby, and he raised his voice and he wept,109

17. and the mighty Ones heard the voice of the youth, and the Envoy of the mighty Ones called to Hâğâ´r, from the heavens, and He said to her,
“What do you have, Hâğâ´r? Do not be afraid because the mighty Ones has heeded the voice of the youth, wherein he is.
18. Stand up, support the youth and make him strong with your hand on him, because I shall make him for a great heathen mass.”
19. Then the mighty Ones opened her eyes and she saw a well of waters, and she walked and she filled the water-skin and she made the youth drink,
20. and the mighty Ones was with the youth, and he grew up and he dwelled in the uninhabited land, and he became a great archer,
21. and he dwelled in the uninhabited land of Pâ’râ´n (Place of caverns), and his mother took for him a wife from the land of Mitsráyim;
The Well of the 7/Oath
22. and it happened at that time-period that ’Aviymélekh (my Father is king), and ’Achuzzáth (Property) his kinsman, and Phiykhól (Mouth of all) the commander of his host spoke to ’Avrâhâ´m saying, “The mighty Ones is with you in all which you are doing, [compare 26: 26]
23. so now, swear for me by the mighty Ones here you would not lie to me or to my posterity or to my progeny; like the kindness which I worked with you, you will work with me, and with the land on which you have sojourned!”
24. and ’Avrâhâ´m said, “I am the one who swears it.”
25. Then ’Avrâhâ´m reprimanded ’Aviymélekh concerning the cause of a well of water which the servants of ’Aviymélekh had seized, [Yâshâ´r 22: 4-6]
26. but ’Aviymélekh said, “As Yâ-hwéh lives Who created the entire earth [Yâshâ´r 22: 7], I do not know who has done this matter, and moreover you are who has not reported it to me, so also I am one who had not heard it, not until today!”
27. so ’Avrâhâ´m brought sheep and cattle and he gave it to ’Aviymélekh, and the two of them cut a covenant,
28. but ’Avrâhâ´m set 7 ewe-lambs of the flock by themselves,
29. then ’Aviymélekh said to ’Avrâhâ´m, “What do these 7 ewe-lambs, which you have set by themselves, mean?”
30. and he said, “That you have accepted the 7 (shéva`) ewe-lambs from my hand, in order that you shall become for me for a witness that I have dug this well.”
31. Concerning this, he called that place B’ë´r Shâ´va` (The Well of the 7/Oath) because there the two of them swore an oath (shâvá`),
32. and they cut a covenant in B’ë´r Shâ´va`, and ’Aviymélekh, and ’Achuzzáth his kinsman, and Phiykhól the commander of his host stood up and they returned to the land of the Phlishttíym,
33. and he planted a tamarisk tree110 in
B’ë´r Shâ´va`, and he called there by the name of Yâ-hwéh, the eternal Power,
34. and ’Avrâhâ´m sojourned in the land of the Phlishttíym many days.

110 We believe the reason for this was
1) to claim the well which had recently had a territorial dispute by using the land,
2) making a landmark of a water source by a tree which requires much water, and
3) noting where he did worship.

4 And the child grew up and he was weaned, and ’Avrâhâ´m made a great feast upon the day that Yitschâ´q was weaned.
5 And Shëm and `Ë´ver and all the great people of the land, and ’Aviymélekh king of the Phlishttíym, and his servants, and Piykhól, the captain of his host, came to eat and drink and rejoice at the feast which ’Avrâhâ´m made upon the day of his son Yitschâ´q’s being weaned.
6 Also Térach, the father of ’Avrâhâ´m, and Nâchówr his brother, came from Chârâ´n, they and all belonging to them, for they greatly rejoiced on hearing that a son had been born to Sârâ´h.
7 And they came to ’Avrâhâ´m, and they ate and drank at the feast which ’Avrâhâ´m made upon the day of Yitschâ´q’s being weaned.
8 And Térach and Nâchówr rejoiced with ’Avrâhâ´m, and they remained with him many days in the land of the Phlishttíym.

12 And Yâ-hwéh was with Yishmâ`Ë´’l the son of ’Avrâhâ´m, and he grew up, and he learned to use the bow and became an archer.
13 And when Yitschâ´q was five years old he was sitting with Yishmâ`Ë´’l [age 20] at the door of the tent. [2054 (1920 BC)]
14 And Yishmâ`Ë´’l came to Yitschâ´q and seated himself opposite to him, and he took the bow and drew it and put the arrow in it, and intended18 to slay Yitschâ´q.

15 And Sârâ´h saw the act which Yishmâ`Ë´’l desired to do to her son Yitschâ´q, and it grieved her exceedingly on account of her son, and she sent for ’Avrâhâ´m, and said to him, “Cast out this bondwoman and her son, for her son shall not be heir with my son, for thus did he seek to do unto him this day!”

26. Then ’Aviymélekh was who came to him from Ğrâ´r and ’Achuzzáth his friend and Phiykhól the commander of his host, [21: 22-34]
The Scroll of Yâshâ´r 22:4-6 , 7
4 And the days increased and reached twenty-six years, and after that ’Avrâhâ´m with his servants and all belonging to him went from the land of the Phlishttíym and removed to a great distance, and they came near to Chevrówn, and they remained there, and the servants of ’Avrâhâ´m dug wells of water, and ’Avrâhâ´m and all belonging to him dwelled by the water, and the servants of ’Aviymélekh king of the Phlishttíym heard the report that ’Avrâhâ´m’s servants had dug wells of water within the borders of the land.
5 And they came and quarreled with the servants of ’Avrâhâ´m, and they robbed them of the great well which they had dug.
6 And ’Aviymélekh king of the Phlishttíym heard of this affair, and he with Piykhól the captain of his host and twenty of his men came to ’Avrâhâ´m, and ’Aviymélekh spoke to ’Avrâhâ´m concerning his servants, and ’Avrâhâ´m rebuked ’Aviymélekh concerning the well of which his servants had robbed him.
7 And ’Aviymélekh said to ’Avrâhâ´m, “As
Yâ-hwéh lives Who created the entire earth, I did not hear of the act which my servants did unto your servants until this day.”
